Round Two

Hello out there. Well, here's the latest. It appears that I have a little more work to do. Round one of radiation and chemotherapy wasn't quite enough to do the trick. The tumor has reappeared in two places near the original location. They are small and not as advanced as the first time.
The good news is that I have a chance to be part of a clinical study of a new treatment at MD Anderson. I am not sure what it all entails but the doctors there are enthused at the possibilities of success. We are analyzing all the details written up in the documents that accompany the clinical trial and I'll try to keep you all informed of the situation. As you can see, I still have my boyish good looks and I'm still sharp as a tack. Although, I have to admit, those 5th graders on TV are pretty sharp too! Whew, kids are smart.
To my calculus students - Work hard! Pour it on and prepare yourselves for those AP exams. You have an amazing teacher there every day who knows her stuff and is working hard to help you. No kids in this United States of America are any better than you are. I believe in you.
As of right now, today, I don't know exactly what's going to happen as far as my return goes. I miss all of you very much and want to be there with you. I'll do my best to keep you informed.
Thank you for all your calls, gifts, emails, text messages, and visits. They are keeping me going. To all of you out there who donated sick days to me, please accept my heartfelt gratitude. I truly don't know what we would have done without your help. The best thing you kids can do now for me is to work hard and learn as much as you can.
Love,
Mathman

Hi Mike,
I am sad to hear that the tumor isn't gone yet. Although, I am very happy to hear that MD Anderson has exciting possibilites for you. I have a friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer while she was pregnant. MD Anderson gave her a new, controversal treatment. This was a treatment that they would never give to an expecting mother, but they tried it anyway...she had a very healthy baby boy. Please know that there are 200+ middle schoolers praying for you. You're the best. Keep up your spirits; I have tremendous faith in your success.

Mike,
We are all praying for you. Keep
your great attitude, have faith in
God that he always knows what he is doing, even though we don't. I think if love alone could heal you, you would have been better already, because your girls really love you, we can see that. We look forward to seeing you the next time we make it out to Texas.
Love Steve and Karolyne Lucia

Hi Mike! I am Faith Abbott's mom (from Lauren's preschool) and I met you at a birthday party this year. It was such a delight to talk to you -- I could tell you have a special spirit. Even though you are walking through some pretty tough stuff in this "life with cancer", you are indeed LIVING each day like you never would have otherwise. I watched my son, Matt, develop an incredible perspective -- one no other teenager I knew had -- as a result of his brain cancer. He enjoyed the simplest pleasures that others took so for granted. I believe in a big picture and that is what helps me get through the hardships of this world. I pray you are trusting in a big picture, too, and that God's peace will sustain you every single moment.

Mike,
Sorry to hear there's more work to be done but picture it as just an annoying speed bump in the road of life. I have Faith in MD Anderson so good luck with the trial program! We are all praying for you. Keep yourself happy by loving on the grandbabies...that always does it for me! Love, Randi

Hi Michael, Keep up the good work, remember you can create what you think, so think about pac men eating away the cancer cells while you are at rest, or meditating. The mind is a powerful thing, we do have the ability to heal ourselves, just know that. I have a lot of faith in you, and in MD Anderson. Linda

Mr. Sheridizzle,

You should write another blog. You're very entertaining, and it's lovely to hear how it's going/what you're up to.

Love always
